Linda Dackman was 34 when she had a mastectomy. She had no way to find help as a single woman looking for a relationship, wanting to know when and how to tell about her mastectomy and her disease. She wrote the book Up Front: Sex and the Post-Mastectomy Woman , a personal account of how she coped with these problems unfortunately out of print, but worth tracking down in a library or a used book store. Each time she met someone new, Linda had to struggle with when and how to tell, and then how to behave in intimate situations. In the beginning, she would blurt out her history almost immediately, frightening herself and her date.
8 Things NOT To Say To Someone Whose Mom Has Cancer

My partner has had cancer for 6 years. I just began dating him a couple of months ago. The irony is that my father died of cancer about 9 years ago, so the cancer never really bothered me. But, I have a hard time when my partner is going through a lot of pain or a hard time, because he is so used to dealing with it by himself that he doesn't completely let me in. I know that he has to deal with it in his own way and that I am new in his life, but I don't know how to not feel a little left out. It's like he wants me to act like nothing is going on, but then he writhes in pain and I feel helpless. Has anyone else out there gotten into a relationship with someone with cancer?
Dating someone who has cancer
Health and wellness touch each of us differently. Well, that was my life during cancer treatment. As a pharmaceutical representative for a major international pharma company, I was already spending most of my time at the hospital.
Well, in the end, you can't really help who you fall in love with. And I don't think she should deny her feelings and NOT be with him because of his illness. She'll only pine for him, and then regret once he passes the time she didn't get to have with him. I'm not sure about having kids with him if he is in fact fertile. I would have a hard time bringing children into the world knowing they will suffer that type of loss at such a young age.
